    Hugh Davies on Francis Bacon
    →Thursday, 7/16/09 > 7 PM > La Jolla

    A renowned scholar on the work of Francis Bacon, MCASD Director Hugh M. Davies has lectured on the artist internationally, most recently at the invitation of the Tate Britain in London. RSVP to this event.

    Open House: Free Third Thursday Evening

    →Thursday, 7/16/09 > 5-7 PM > La Jolla and Downtown
    On the third Thursday of every month from 5 to 7 pm, visitors receive FREE admission to both the Museum’s downtown and La Jolla locations. Plus, free themed Gallery Guide-led tours beginning at 5 and 6 pm.

    alt.pictureshows returns in August
    →Thursday, 8/27/09 > 7-10 PM > Downtown
    Part cinematic funhouse, part short-film festival extraordinaire, the seventh annual alt.pictureshows continues to break down the barriers of the movie-going experience. Viewers are encouraged to participate in “physical channel surfing” to experience a range of different short films in the Museum’s various exhibition spaces as they screen on a loop throughout the evening.

    Attempt to Raise Hell
    Curated by MCASD Director Hugh M. Davies, the exhibition highlights the Museum’s pioneering history and ongoing commitment to showing, commissioning, and collecting large-scale installation art.

    Octagon: Photographs by Kevin Lynch
    Octagon presents photographs by Kevin Lynch, who was given unprecedented access to document the Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial artists, both ringside and behind the scenes.

    →On view through September 6 at MCASD La Jolla
    MIX: Nine San Diego Architects and Designers
    MIX presents the work of nine leading local architects and designers who are redefining housing design and development in the San Diego region and beyond.
