    Jasper Johns: Light Bulb
    This exhibition brings together for the first time Johns’s light bulb sculptures and related works on paper, including several drawings and modified prints from the artist’s collection that have never before been exhibited.

    Cerca Series: Javier Ramírez Limón
    Tijuana-based photographer Javier Ramírez Limón presents two straight-photographic series that document different moments in the process of migration and adaptation of Mexican communities in the Southern United States.

    Human/Nature: Artists Respond to a Changing Planet
    Don’t miss your last chance to take in this innovative exhibition featuring new, commissioned works by eight leading contemporary artists.

    Members’ Preview: Jasper Johns: Light Bulb
    →Saturday, 1/17/09 > 7-9 PM > La Jolla
    MCASD Members are invited to preview the galleries and celebrate the opening of the exhibition, Jasper Johns: Light Bulb. Hear MCASD Senior Curator Dr. Stephanie Hanor speak about the artist’s work, followed by a cocktail reception.

    Lecture: Jasper Johns: The Idea of Knowing an Image
    →Saturday, 1/17/09 > 7 PM > La Jolla

    In conjunction with the opening of Jasper Johns: Light Bulb, exhibition curator and MCASD Senior Curator Dr. Stephanie Hanor will present her research on the light bulb motif in Jasper Johns’s work.

    TNT: Fallen Fruit

    →Thursday, 2/5/09, 7-10 PM > MCASD Downtown
    TNT joins forces with Fallen Fruit, an LA-based activist art project that uses the concept of “public fruit” to get people thinking about the vitality of their communities and neighborhoods. Hear from the founding members, then participate in communal jam-making and many other fruit-centric experiences.
