We wanted to pass along the most recent doings at the Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown San Diego, who is offering some Election recovery art therapy with their next “Thursday Night Thing” this week. Here is a copy of this week’s email:

    FIRST THURSDAYS AT MCASD DOWNTOWN
    1001 KETTNER BLVD AT BROADWAY

    THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6 > 7-10 PM
    NON-MEMBERS $3 DONATION; MEMBERS FREE

    PARALLEL LINES

L.A.-based multidisciplinary artist Susan Silton will be present to discuss her work, currently on view in the exhibition Memory Is Your Image of Perfection at MCASD Downtown’s 1001 Kettner galleries.

Silton’s large-scale chromogenic prints fuse together colorful vertical stripes with stills from mid-century apocalyptic films that responded to U.S. fears during the Cold War.

Playing off the fear and tension of current political and economic times, pose for the camera with your most frightened face. Then, using the printed photo and a vibrant, transparent veil of vertical stripes, create your own Silton-inspired photographic souvenir.

Enjoy live music on the plaza, featuring the heavy rock of local favorites Transfer; psychedelic pop by Tucson-based Hot Rolling Empire; and DJ Skullcrusher playing a mix of electro and alternative.
