‘My goal is to create works that are visually compelling in themselves, and also draw one’s attention to their materiality. The ‘function’ of the work is ambiguous. I also accept that ambiguity is a vital part of the work.’
Don Strandberg is a versatile San Diego-based artist known for his solo acoustic fingerstyle guitar music, inspired by folk and blues legends, alongside experimental sound collages, painting, and mixed-media work, blending themes from music and visual art into cohesive, introspective pieces that explore form, color, and narrative. He’s a seasoned performer, recording artist (albums like In the Land of Cotton, Orpheus Descending), and a visual artist with shows focusing on geometric abstraction and color.
